We’re delighted to announce, as part of our internationalisation and to better support customers worldwide, that we’ve updated our RoPA and Data Map solution so you can now select ANY Privacy Regime worldwide.
With this exciting new upgrade, users will also see the benefits of expanded KPIs and reports, such as localised Transfer Registers and Risk Maps for each individual jurisdiction. As always, this upgrade is free of charge for all existing Keepabl subscribers and we’ve automatically mapped across our customers’ existing choices, so no action is required to enjoy the benefits of this massive upgrade.
Identifying and mapping out your processing activities is the fundamental task in your Privacy compliance journey. That’s why Keepabl’s Data Map and RoPA solution is the beating heart of our award-winning software.
An early question in each Activity in Keepabl is ‘Choose which Privacy regime to apply to this Activity’, and it drives a lot of your valuable Privacy reporting. With our latest product release we’ve upgraded the answer, previously limited to the UK or EU, so that you can now select ANY Privacy jurisdiction – and multiple jurisdictions.
As you complete your Activities, we automatically create your Privacy reports and KPIs to view online, or download and share, to showcase your compliance progress. This includes your Article 30 Records required under GDPR but now also includes reports from transfers to risk on all your selected jurisdictions.
Previously, Transfer Registers only reported transfers under UK or EU GDPRs. Now, you can see Transfer Registers for each jurisdiction you selected! So, if your Activities are subject to India’s Privacy laws, select India in the Activity and we’ll calculate transfers for your Activities based on India.
It’s not just Transfer Registers, we’ve updated reporting across Keepabl. You can see your Risk Map and Activity Register for each jurisdiction (and All). Your Activity Analysis still reports across the whole Data Map. And Dashboard KPIs now allow you to cut and slice by any of your jurisdictions:
Articles 30 Records remain unchanged as they’re a direct requirement under EU and UK GDPRs.
The EU GDPR, Canada and the USA are ‘parent jurisdictions’ in that they each cover a group of ‘individual states’. Those individual states may have their own Privacy rules, but you still calculate some Privacy reports (such as transfers) at the ‘parent’ level. So, if you select one of the individual states in an Activity, we automatically add the parent jurisdiction.
EU GDPR applies to processing in the 30 EEA Member States. So, for example, if you select Greece, we’ll automatically add EU GDPR as well.
The USA and Canada allow their states, and provinces and territories respectively (perhaps notoriously) to also have their own rules, but transfers are still at the national level. So, for example, if you choose Arizona, we’ll automatically add the USA and, if you choose Quebec, we’ll automatically add Canada.
This lets us give you accurate Transfer Registers for the parent jurisdiction, as well as cutting and slicing other reports and KPIs to the state level.
